Arl Gordon Hightower

December 7, 1921 — June 5, 2020

Mr. Arl Gordon Hightower, 98 of Clifton, Texas died Friday June 5, 2020 at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. He was born December 7, 1921 in Moline, Texas the son of Arl Richard Hightower and Viola Mae (Reeder) Hightower. He spent the majority of his life in the Lometa area, where he was ranch foreman for 48 years for the Bohning family all while driving a Lometa School bus for about 25 years. Arl served during WWII in the Army Air Corps as an ambulance driver and medic. He married Beth Patterson in July of 1945 and she preceded him in death in 2011. Arl helped build the Lometa rodeo arena and served on Lometa City Council. Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Private burial will follow. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Survivors include; Sons; William Hightower and wife Patricia of Clifton, TX Gordon Hightower and wife Dora of New Braunfels, TX 4 grandchildren; Melissa Ranson, Kathy Rakowitz, Kim Okland, Jimmy Moore 12 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild Arl was preceded in death by his brothers, Berlie and Howard, by sisters, Ladell, Opal, Edna and Euva. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
