Barbara Nichelson

Barbara Nichelson, a beloved figure in the lives of many, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, in Kempner, Texas, surrounded by the warmth of her cherished memories. Born on January 27, 1953, in Huntsville, Alabama, Barbara's life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and unwavering faith.

For over 15 years, Barbara devoted herself to the role of a nanny, where her nurturing spirit shone brightly as she lovingly cared for the children in her care. Her gentle touch and welcoming demeanor made her a favorite among both children and families alike. 

Barbara’s kindness extended beyond her professional life; she was a deeply religious woman who found joy in sharing God's word with others. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her in every action and thought. She often lit up a room with her warm spirit, inviting others to bask in the light of her love and compassion.

In her quiet moments, Barbara enjoyed cooking, filling the kitchens of her loved ones with delicious aromas and cherished family recipes. Her nurturing spirit transcended into her hobbies as well; she found joy in watching old western movies and classic television shows, and she relished her time spent tuning into her favorite religious channels on TV. These simple pleasures brought her immense happiness throughout her life.

Barbara's compassionate nature was perhaps most evident in her relationship with her nephew, William Lizama. From his birth, she cared for him with the love of a mother, establishing a bond that was profound and unbreakable. Her supportive presence in his life was a true testament to the selflessness she embodied.

She is survived by her sister, Debby Nichelson Lizama, her nephew, William Anthony Lizama, and her brother-in-law, Joseph Mesngon Lizama. They, along with many others who had the privilege of knowing her, will forever cherish the moments shared with this extraordinary woman.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, William Roser Nichelson, her mother, Susie Mae Parks Nichelson, her sister, Cathy Nichelson, and her brother, Anthony Nichelson. Their spirits will surely welcome her with open arms, rejoicing in her reunion with them.

In celebrating Barbara's life, we remember a woman who not only lived with purpose but also inspired those around her to do the same.
