Becky Carol Isom departed this earthly world to enter her eternal home on March 16, 2023, at the age of 71.
Memorial services will be held at First United Methodist Church Lampasas on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 10: 30 am.
Becky was born on August 29, 1951, in Lampasas, Texas to Marvin Edwin Klose and Mildred Lee (Canales) Klose. She grew up in Lampasas on her family's farm and dairy with her three sisters and graduated from Lampasas High School in 1969. Becky continued her education at Tarleton State University and received a degree in Elementary Education in 1972. It was during her time at Tarleton that she met the love of her life, Charley Wright Isom, Jr. The two were married on March 10, 1973, at First United Methodist Church of Lampasas. After a brief stint in Georgia where Charley was an ag teacher and Becky taught at a private school, they returned to Lampasas to become partners in the family business, KAI Dairy.
Upon returning home, Becky began teaching at Lampasas Middle School while Charley helped run the family business. She was most known by her students as "having the best-smelling classroom" and "the teacher that made me learn my auxiliary verbs," which many of them can still recite today! She was named Walmart Teacher of the Year (Hanna Springs Intermediate) in 2002 and retired after 34 years of teaching to spend more time with her family.
Over the years, Becky spent her time volunteering in various aspects of the Lampasas community. She was a Sunday school and children's choir teacher at First United Methodist Church. She also served as a volunteer for the CAPS program at the church, as a committee member of the Lampasas Historical Museum, as a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and as a 4-H Leader for Food & Nutrition.
While she enjoyed being a part of the community, Becky's greatest joy was taking care of and spending time with Charley and their two sons, Trampus and Pepper. She enjoyed cooking for them and making them their favorite dishes. Her passion for cooking led her and her sisters to initiate the formation of the Food Fair Division at the Lampasas County Show in 2007. This event continues to grow every year and is still enjoyed by many students in the county. Becky also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Preston, Cayhil, and Olson, and attending their many sporting events and school activities. She loved working in her garden, attending cooking shows/demonstrations, and visiting with old friends and previous students at the veterinary hospital
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Mildred Klose; her husband, Charley Isom and her sister, Doretha Bohning.
Becky is survived by her sons, Trampus (Kelli) Isom of Lampasas, Texas, and Pepper (Katie Waldrop) Isom of Floresville, Texas; her sisters, Anita (James) Allen and Jan Klose, both of Lampasas; her brother-in-law, Robert Bohning of Lampasas; her grandchildren, Preston, Cayhil, and Olson Isom and her nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to the Lampasas County Livestock Association (attn: Food Fair), PO Box 504, Lampasas, TX, or the Lampasas Public Library, 201 S. Main St., Lampasas, TX.
