Lampasas

Betty Lindsey, 83, passed away on February 25, 2026, in Lampasas, Texas. She was born on May 29, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was the daughter of Louise Maclin (Rambo) and Clem Maclin.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 501 S. Chestnut St., Lampasas, TX, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

Betty grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas. She graduated from Wichita Falls Senior High School in 1960. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where she received a bachelor's degree in journalism and was the proud founder of the sorority Gamma Chi Delta. She later completed her master's in counseling at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Betty worked for more than 30 years as a therapist. In 1998, she moved to Lampasas from Dallas, where she continued to work until her retirement in 2021.

Betty met her husband, Weldon Maxey, in 2007. They were happily together for 19 years.

Throughout her life, Betty was involved in many charities and social organizations. She attended church at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. She was a dedicated member of the Friends of the Night Sky and Lampasas Association for the Arts.

Betty was one to speak her mind, loudly and unapologetically. You'd be hard pressed to find a day when she didn't leave the house without her hair and makeup done and nails impeccably poslished. She loved her family, friends, Scrabble, and a glass (or glasses) of cheap chardonnay.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Louise Maclin and Clem Maclin, as well as her brother, Cary Maclin.

Betty leaves behind her husband, Weldon Maxey; her daughters, Kristin Yates and Melissa Wright; her four grandchildren, Caitlyn Yates, Chandler Yates, Taylor Billmyre, and Lexi Billmyre; and numerous other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society or St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Condolences may be left on Betty Lindsey's online guest book at www.sneedfuneralchapel.com/obituaries/betty-lindsey.
