Bonita Alice Spivey, 81, passed away on July 26, 2025, at her residence in Lampasas. Bonita was born on September 13, 1943, in Smackover, Arkansas, to Harvey and Ivy Hardage Adams. The family moved to Monahans, Texas, at an early age. She attended Monahans schools, where she graduated in 1962. Shortly after, she met and married James Spivey on August 30, 1962. In 1963, their son Jim Spivey was born. James and Bonita enjoyed 62 years of marriage.
Bonita's primary focus was always a homemaker. She was a wonderful cook, and she always had delicious meals prepared for James and whoever happened to show up at her home. She also spent countless hours helping James on the farm and ranch. Bonita also had a great love of horses. She and James went on trail rides all over Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico.
After marriage, they lived in Midland, Texas for 3.5 years. They then moved to Plano, TX, where they remained for the next 57 years. They moved to Lampasas in 2022.
She is survived by her husband, James Spivey; her son, Jim and Laurie; her granddaughter, Allie and Dakota Falcon, and her great-granddaughters, Malone and Taos Falcon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Adams, her mother, Ivy (Johnny) Carrol, and her brother, Jerry Adams.
A memorial service will be held in late September at the family ranch in Lampasas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.parkinson.org
