Robert L. Clarkston Jr., lovingly known as "Bucky", passed away peacefully in his home on May 5, 2025, surrounded by his family at 74 years of age.
Bucky was born on March 23, 1951, in Lampasas, Texas, and called the Lone Star State and Lampasas home his entire life. A devoted husband, father, and friend, Bucky was married to the love of his life, Susan Clarkston, for 39 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
He was the proud father of six children: Eunice Bannister, Josse Uvalle (Eustacio), John Clarkston, Gene Clarkston (Kelly), Donovan Clarkston, Grady Clarkston, and bonus daughter, Lexi Roviso (Nicholas). His legacy lives on through them and through all the lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and strength.
Bucky was a hardworking and passionate man. He owned and operated an auto body shop for over 30 years, building a reputation for honesty, craftmanship, and dedication to his community. After retiring from the business, he continued to serve by working overseas in support of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, contributing his skills and strong work ethic in a new and meaningful way. He also gave back locally as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years, always ready to lend a hand when his community needed him most.
Boisterous, adventurous, and full of life, Bucky had a big personality and an even bigger heart. He loved hunting, exploring the great outdoors, practical jokes, and traveling the world. Whether sharing stories around a fire or setting off on a new journey, Bucky lived life on his terms and embraced every moment.
He is survived by his wife; his children; his brother, Robert E. Clarkston; "best sister-in-law ever", Jonnie Lowry; his grandchildren, Chelsey Uvalle, Kyle Harding (Khrystal), Jesse Uvalle (Teagan), Jessica Uvalle, Blake Harding, Shawn Uvalle, James Clarkston, Nathan Lee-Clarkston, Nevaeh Lee-Clarkston, Taylor Roviso and five great-grandchildren, Kasey Harding, Sky Harding, Zoey Harding, Kason Harding and Karter Harding.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Frances Louise Clarkston Sr, his sisters, Barbara Smith and Linda Brown, his son, Grady Clarkston and granddaughter, Shayna Bannister.
Bucky will be remembered for his big heart, steady presence, and love for his family. He was a man who believed in hard work, cherished the simple things in life, and found joy in people he loved most.
He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and probably quoted for years to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you tell a good story, laugh a little too loud, and maybe take a nap in a recliner-just like Bucky would've wanted.
Memorial services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 2 pm.
