Carmen DeJesus Ledesma

Carmen DeJesus Ledesma, a beloved homemaker and caregiver, passed away on May 28, 2025, at the Baylor Scott & White Continual Care Rehab Center. Born on May 1, 1941, in Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Carmen was known for her sassy personality, strong character, and loving nature. She devoted her life to caring for her family, and her nurturing spirit shone brightly through her work as a housewife and her home daycare for young children.

Carmen found joy in spending time with her family, especially during the Christmas holidays and Easter, which held deep significance for her. One of her cherished traditions was preparing her special "Arroz Con Dulce" or Rice Candy during the festive season, which brought warmth and sweetness to family gatherings. Her care and kindness extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a dependable friend and a steadfast member of her community.

Her connection to the First Baptist Church and participation in the Senior Connection Group were among her proudest accomplishments. She took great pride in the achievements of her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, celebrating their successes as if they were her own.

Carmen is survived by her daughter, Nilsa Ledesma Santana; granddaughters, Sarah Simon, Jessica E. Santana, and Anisa M. Santana; grandson, Michael Leon; and her sister Isidra DeJesus Colon, brothers Carmelo DeJesus and, Manuel DeJesus, and sister Evarista DeJesus Encarnacion. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who were fortunate to have known her love.

She was predeceased by her parents, Juan DeJesus and Maria Bonano DeJesus; her brothers Juan DeJesus (Pablo) and Edwardo DeJesus; and her sisters Julia DeJesus Brodhurst and Victoria DeJesus Anderson.

A memorial service to honor Carmen's life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Copperas Cove, Texas, on June 13, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM.

Carmen DeJesus Ledesma will be remembered for her caring heart, strong spirit, and the cherished memories she created with those she loved. She has left an indelible mark on the lives of her family and friends, who will carry her memory forward with each gathering they share.
