Carolyn Dean Reed

Carolyn Foster Reed, 73, passed away on January 20, 2023, at Ascension Seton Williamson in Round Rock, Texas.  She was born on April 4, 1949, in Waco, Texas to Dennis and Jessie (Harvey) Foster.

Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, from 6 pm to 8 pm.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 2 pm, at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Weir Cemetery, 1590 Co Rd. 120, Georgetown, TX, 78626.

Carolyn grew up in Waco, Texas, and graduated from Waco High School in 1967.  After high school, she attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education.  After college, she started working at Georgetown ISD as a math teacher and juvenile probation officer.  She retired from there after 25 years of service.

Carolyn was an active member of the community.  She was involved at the Lampasas Mission, Salvation Army, Lions Club and volunteered at the Lampasas Public Library.

Carolyn married Tommy Reed in 1989 in Weir, Texas and they were happily married for 33 years.  Carolyn was a member of School Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed volunteering, gardening, bird watching, traveling, and collecting her favorite things.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her son, Travis Harper; her father, Dennis Foster; her brother, Steve Foster; three aunts and four uncles.

Survivors include her husband, Tommy Reed of Lampasas, TX; her mother, Jessie Poindexter of Burleson, TX; her son, Kevin (Patricia) Harper of Georgetown, TX; her step-daughter, Kim (Jeff) Purkhiser of Leander, TX; her step-son, Thomas (Janis) Reed of Houston, TX; her brother, Larry Kelso of Houston, TX; her sister, Renee (Ron) Blackwell of Burleson, TX; her brother, Greg (Julia) Foster of Dallas, TX; her granddaughter, Jessica Coburn of Austin, TX; her grandson, Bryant Coston of Pflugerville, TX; her granddaughter, Faith (Andrew) Davitt of Huntsville, AL; her granddaughter, Dalia Credeur of Austin, TX; her granddaughter, Alexondra Romero of Boise, ID; her granddaughter, Sofia Cordone of Georgetown, TX; her step-granddaughter, Ryan Purkhiser of Austin, TX; her step-grandson, Chase (Ashley) Purkhiser of Copperas Cove, TX; her great-granddaughter, Abby Purkhiser of Leander, TX; her great-grandson, Ben Davitt of Huntsville, AL; her great-granddaughter, Alice Davitt of Huntsville, AL and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations are made to the School Creek Baptist Church at 11228 County Road 3420, Lampasas, TX, 76550.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Reed, Kevin Harper, Matt Kelso, Bryant Coston, David Lancaster, Davis Spradley, Andrew Davitt, and Jeff Purkhiser.
