Charles "Mac" McDonald

November 26, 1938 — July 12, 2021

Charles "Mac" Manning McDonald, 82, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021, at his residence in Lampasas.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021, at the Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Charles was born November 26, 1938, in Beaumont, TX to Judson Paul "Buster" and Ila Mae McDonald.  He proudly served his country first as a Marine in 1955 and then with the US Army in 1957, where he retired at the rank of SFC (E-7) in 1979.  During his military time, he served as a mechanic in Korea, Vietnam, and Germany.  After retiring from the Army he was employed as a mechanic with the Civil Service for 20 plus years before once again retiring.

Charles enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing.  He was a faithful Baptist his entire life and enjoyed his daily morning coffee and lunch with his friends at Country Kitchen in Lampasas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rena, and his brother, Alton Homer "Lucky" McDonald.

Survivors include his sons, Glenn McDonald, Jeff McDonald, Wesley McDonald, and wife, Mary Ann; mother of his children, Thelma; brother, James Paul "Jimmy" McDonald; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Mr. Mcdonald's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
