Charles Glen Richey

Charles Glen Richey of Kempner Texas, born on June 6, 1938, in Lonoke, Arkansas, passed away on February 8, 2024, in Copperas Cove, Texas. 

Charles served his country as a member of the US Army for 23 years. During his service he served with tours in Germany, Vietnam, Korea and Iran.He retired in 1980 as a Staff Sergeant. During his military service, Charles received various medal and awards to include the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Expert (Rifle) Republic of Vietnam medal and Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Silver 1 Loop,.

After retiring from the Army, Charles began a new chapter of his life working for the City of Copperas Cove. He dedicated another 20 years of his career to serving his community before retiring once again. 

 He was blessed with a loving wife, Betty Laverne Richey of Kempner, who stood by his side throughout their journey together. Together they raised four children: Terry Smith (Phillip) of Fayetteville Arkansas; Jimmy Richey (Sherri) of Colorado Springs Colorado; Don Richey (Dana) of Fayetteville Arkansas; and Vicki O'Dell (Robert) of Copperas Cove.. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren,

Charles Glen Richey was predeceased by his father, Otis Glen Richey, his mother, Katie Richey, his sister Bobbye Harris, and his brother Sherman Richey. He is survived by his sister Sue Meredith of Searcy, Arkansas.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Charles's life will be held on February 20, 2024. The service will take place at 11463 TX-195 in Killeen, Texas. The event will commence at 3:00 PM and conclude at 4:00 PM.
