Christine Coe Groves was born December 21, 1930, in Centrahoma, Coal County, Oklahoma, to Robert Alton Coe and Blanche Breed Coe. She departed this life on May 15, 2026, in Longview, TX, at the age of 95.
After the passing of her father, her mother married Roy Sansom, and she, along with Mildred Coe Gehrke, Bobby Coe, Dorothy Coe Crane, Emmett Sansom, Norman Sansom, Carroll Sansom, and Jim Sansom, grew up on a dairy farm in Manor, TX. After graduating as valedictorian of her high school, she married Barney Groves, Jr., on September 29, 1950, and made her home on a ranch in Rumley near Lampasas. They were married 72 years at the time of his passing in 2022.
Alongside Barney, Christine co-owned Lam-Tex Feed for 50 years while actively contributing to farming and ranching operations on the Z-Bar Ranch. She was a long-time supporter and actively involved with the Farm Bureau, 4-H Clubs, and other community activities. She is survived by her children and their spouses: David and Rose Groves, Steve and Peggy Groves, and Kathy and Perry Lemmons. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Dwayne, Sherry, James, Crystal, Brad, Suzanne, Chase, Jessica, Jenny, Kendra, and Bryce, as well as 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a large, loving Christian family. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, and 2 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 2 pm with visitation prior from 12:30 to 2 pm. Burial will follow at the Groves Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Dwayne Groves, James Groves, Brad Groves, Chase Groves, Bryce Lemmons, and Jeff Arbogust. Honorary Pallbearers are Richard Simon, David Visser, Richard Wiley, David Bolin, David Hamilton, William Malray, and Todd Coker.
The family would like to thank Audrey Kaye Malray and Carolyn Drayton for their loving care and devotion for the past 3 1/2 years. Donations in Christine's memory can be made to the Lampasas County Youth Livestock Association or a charity of your choice.
