Clara "Jan" Janet Gore, 74, passed away on August 17, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. She was born on June 20, 1951, in Hemphill, Texas, to Ralph and Eloise (Huling) Mitchell.
A memorial service will be held at Northside Baptist Church in Lampasas at a later date.
Jan grew up in Hemphill, Texas. She graduated from Hemphill High School in Hemphill, Texas, in 1970. After high school, she attended George C. Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama, where she received a certificate in Vocational Nursing. She retired in 2012 after 26 years.
After a brief courtship, Jan married Alvis Gore on October 3, 1970, in Hemphill, Texas. They were happily married for 54 years. Alvis and Jan traveled along with their children to other countries with the Army during Alvis' 21 years of service.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Curry Mitchell.
Jan is survived by her spouse, Alvis of Lampasas, Texas; her sons, Alvis Gore II of Lampasas, Texas and Mitchell Gore and his wife Jennifer of Seattle, Washington; her daughter, Victoria Gore and Robert Lange of Copperas Cove, Texas; her grandchildren, Alvis Gore III of Troy, Texas, Selin Gore, Elizabeth Gore of Seattle, Washington, Charlotte Gore of Seattle, Washington, Taeghan Gore of Copperas Cove, Texas and Eleven Gore of Llano, Texas; great-grandchild, Ava Gore of Troy, Texas; her sisters, Joyce "Micki" Havlock, Wanda Page; her brother, Thomas Mitchell and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
