Don Blackwell - Family Man, Technologist, Sports Enthusiast, and Friend to All
Don Blackwell, a devoted husband, father, granddad, and cherished friend, passed away suddenly on August 14, 2025, at the age of 78.
Don lived a life filled with love, adventure, and curiosity. He dutifully served his country as a medic in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Following his military service, Don built a long and successful career as a systems analyst. His fascination with computers and technology never waned - he delighted in exploring innovations and keeping pace with new developments throughout his life. A passionate fan of science fiction, Don loved imagining the possibilities of the future as much as he enjoyed analyzing the present, and he was always ready for a spirited discussion on just about any subject.
Known for his outgoing personality, warm smile, and unwavering optimism, Don was truly a friend to all. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and he never met a stranger who didn't soon become a friend. He cherished time on the golf course and continued playing softball well into his later years, finding joy not only in the games but also in the camaraderie and time outdoors.
Above all, Don was a family man. His greatest happiness came from being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always there for family, offering his love, support, and encouragement whenever it was needed. He treasured every moment spent with them, and his legacy will live on in their laughter, stories, and love.
Don will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his wife, Jeanette; son, Jason Blackwell and wife Heather; daughter, Julie Sanders and husband Aaron, and their sons, Fox, Jaden, Wesley, and Asher, along with countless friends whose lives he touched.
A private service for family and friends will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate Don's remarkable life. May his enduring positivity and endless optimism continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
