Donald O. Whitaker, Jr.

Donald O. Whitaker, Jr., 76, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Advent Health Central Texas in Killeen.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 9 am at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. 

He was born on November 23, 1947, in Fort Worth, TX to Donald O. Whitaker Sr. and Mary Whitaker.  He started his career with the US Army and retired as Sergeant First Class obtaining many achievements and decorations along the way.  After he retired from the military he embarked on a new career as a truck driver and was awarded with one million miles driven safely with no accidents.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, and making sure his bird feeders were always filled.  Donald also had a vast rock and coin collection.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Becky Martin.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sandy Whitaker; his son, Shannon Whitaker, and wife Michelle; his daughters, Linda Cox and husband Richard, Hope Whitaker, Cassy Tooke and husband Steven and Teresa Barker; his sisters, Nancy and Janice; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
