Duane Martin Moses

Duane Martin Moses, a dedicated Air Traffic Controller and beloved family man, passed away on June 15, 2026, in Temple, Texas. Born on February 10, 1962, in Baumholder, Germany, Duane lived a life characterized by kindness, generosity, humor, and tireless hard work.

Duane graduated in the Class of 1980 from Southview High School in Hope Mills, North Carolina. Following his education, he began his distinguished career as an Air Force Air Traffic Controller, serving from July 31, 1980, to July 30, 1984. During this time, he was stationed at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, and Myrtle Beach Air Force Base in South Carolina. During his military service he received honors including the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon.

After his military tenure, Duane continued with a remarkable civilian career as an Air Traffic Controller for the Department of the Army at West Fort Hood, Texas from July 28, 1985, to December 31, 2017. His professional excellence earned him the Commander's Award for Civilian Service and many certificates of appreciation and accolades recognizing his exemplary conduct and dedication. He retired with 37 years of federal service.

Above all, Duane was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His proudest accomplishments were his children and granddaughters; to him, they were his greatest treasures. Lorna often remarked that Duane used his phone “like a grandma pulling a photo album out of her purse,” always eager to share pictures of his beloved family. His deep love and devotion spoke volumes that his family held a central place in his heart. He genuinely touched the lives of many and built long lasting friendships; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A true car enthusiast and creative mechanic, Duane’s passion for acquiring and restoring vehicles was well-known, even his family is unable to count how many cars he owned over the years. He had a remarkable ability to transform his ideas into reality and could turn almost any piece of scrap metal into a work of art. His most recent hobby was playing disc golf, always bringing a competitive and fun-loving spirit. Duane loved to travel and drove his family on memorable road trips across 27 states. After retirement, he enjoyed multiple cruises annually, as well as treasured visits to North Carolina, Canada, and Japan.

Duane is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Lorna Moses; his children Ashley and her husband JD Arms, Ethan and his wife Terra Moses, and Macie and her husband Jacob Delgado; his granddaughters Noa and Hannah Moses; his mother, Margaret Moses; his siblings Diana Tippett, Cindy and her husband John Martinez, Kevin Moses, Meg Moses, and Stevie Moses; and his extended family including numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delmar Moses, and his nephew, Alex Hajdalenko.

A graveside service honoring Duane’s life will be held on July 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas, 76542.

Following the service, a reception will be held at Holy Family Church Social Hall, 1001 Georgetown Rd, Copperas Cove, Texas, 76522. At this gathering, family, friends, and all whose lives he illuminated will celebrate a man remembered for the warmth, humor, and love he so naturally shared.

Duane's legacy of service, devotion to family and friends, and spirited enthusiasm serves as an enduring inspiration and leaves a lasting impression on countless lives.
