Floydell Estis Pierce, 83, passed away on April 4, 2026, in Temple, Texas. She was born on March 15, 1942, in Burnet, Texas, to Floyd A. Ferguson and Jessie Estis Appleton Ferguson.

Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 5 pm to 7 pm. Graveside services will be held at Tobey Cemetery in Oakalla on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 3 pm.

Floydell grew up in the Burnet area until her family moved to Houston. Years later, the family returned to Central Texas and made their home in Briggs. She attended Briggs High School until she graduated in 1960. She married James Torbett (Harpo) Pierce on August 19, 1961, at Oakalla Baptist Church. They made their home on the Lampasas River in Oakalla, Texas, and have lived there for over 60 years. She was a loyal and devoted wife and loving mother to two sons, James Lendol Pierce and John Torbett Pierce, and a "surrogate mother" and bed-and-breakfast to any Oakalla kids and school friends James and Torbett brought home. She was a wonderful cook - her kitchen was open to all, and no one ever left hungry after sitting at Flo's table.

Floydell loved being with family and friends, and greatly enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed country life - gardening, puttering in the yard with her plants and flowers, and tending to the cows, goats, puppies, and various and sundry orphaned animal babies that fell into her lap. Her boys will tell you there wasn't anything that Flo couldn't make live. She had a gift.

Floydell was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd A. Ferguson and Jessie Ferguson, brother, Buddy Ferguson, sister-in-law, Dodie Ferguson, brother-in-law, Jim Carlilie, and a great-grandson, Whitt Michael Martin.

She is survived by her husband, James Torbett Pierce; her children, James Lendol Pierce (Marilee) of Lampasas, and John Torbett Pierce (Guiselle) of Temple; her grandchildren, Jacie Martin (Justin) of Eldorado, Texas, Breck Pierce of Leander, Texas, Robert Pierce (Monica) of Wylie, Texas and Quinn Pierce of Wylie, Texas; great-grandchildren, Gracie Martin, Eisley Pierce, Norah Pierce, and Conor Pierce; her sister, Judy Carlile of Burnet, and several nieces and nephews.
