George McClintock, 89, of Kempner, passed away on October 23, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. He was born on June 27, 1937, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Edward McClintock and Lavere Kinney.
George grew up during a time when his love of military history, duty, and honor to his country grew into the pillars of his life. God, family, country, even before he was of age to serve. He attempted to enlist when the Korean War started and was sent home, and asked to wait. He volunteered for Airborne Services in 1958. After college, he enlisted in the US Army and served proudly for 23 years, serving during the Vietnam War. George served as a Captain with the First Aviation Battalion, earning a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
Like many of his brothers in arms, he carried the weight of his quiet service. After retirement, George built a life rooted in hard work and devotion to those he loved.
He was known by all as a man of integrity and honor. He was an active member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Christian Motorcycle Association, and he also held numerous board positions. George enjoyed serving his community, was a member of First Street Church of Christ, and served on the City Council. Above all, he cherished his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Shirley; his grandson, George III; and his brother, John Mclane of Florida. He was preceded in death by his son, George Jr.
