Gerald Arthur Schultz passed away on February 12, 2022, at age 88 in Lampasas, Texas. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Lampasas on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 11 am. Burial will follow at a later date. Jerry is survived by his wife, Julia Rogers; sons, Martin Schultz (Sue) of Huntsville, Texas, Robert Schultz of Duluth, Georgia, Matthew Schultz of Duluth, Georgia; stepsons, Christopher Dunlap (Joanna) of Lampasas, Texas, Michael Dunlap (Abigail) of Morrison, Colorado; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Owen, William, Kayla, Jackson, Raleigh, Anabelle, Josephine; sister, Clarice Watkins; brother Lewis Schultz, both of Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin and the mother of his children, Dona Chapman (Kelley). He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Mahler, and brother Donald Schultz. He was born in 1933, during the Great Depression, in Waukegan, Illinois. His parents were Clarence and Mildred (Tingle) Schultz, both descendants of the earlier pioneer settlers in Wisconsin and Minnesota. His paternal grandparents were Otto and Elsie (Guntly) Schultz, with maternal grandparents being George Tingle and Maud Orr. When he was a young child, the family moved to Northern Michigan, where they lived in a small cabin on the farm of a great-aunt and great-uncle who still lived as though in the 19th century. Later, the family returned to Illinois, where his father became farm manager for the Lehmann family and later the Crown family in Wauconda. Jerry joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, serving in Alaska and Hawaii, where he specialized in Morse code and radio communications. After his discharge, he attended Northern Illinois University, where he received his degree in accounting. His career in public accounting eventually led him to Richmond, Virginia where he was a partner in the firm of Arthur Young & Company. He later established his own firm and was a highly respected CPA in the Richmond area. In 2008, Jerry moved with his wife to the community of Stoney Creek in Nellysford, Virginia where he continued to provide consulting services as a CPA and fine-tuned his golf game. Most recently, they had relocated to their retirement home in Lampasas, enjoying life on the busy family ranch. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church Outreach Fund, P.O. Box 12, Batesville, VA 22924, or to The Chaplain Foundation, 1139 County Road 1045, Lampasas, TX 76550.
