Glynda was born November 18, 1933, in Briggs, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Thad and Oma Patterson Carson Ford. She graduated from Briggs High School, as valedictorian and married her high school sweetheart, Dayton Carpenter in 1952. She attended Baylor University and then received a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Mary Hardin Baylor in 1984.
In her adult life, Glynda worked for the Civil Service, Selective Service Systems, and in various family businesses. After retirement, she and Dayton enjoyed spending time together remodeling properties.
Glynda was a committed Christian and a member of the Southern Baptist faith. She served in many capacities through the years. She loved Jesus and took every opportunity to talk about him.
Glynda loved Lampasas and was very active in her community. She was appointed to the Lampasas City Council in 1998 and served until 2002. She was past president of the Pierian Club, Lampasas Garden Club, and the Parent Teacher Student Organization. She was also a Past Matron of the Lampasas Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a charter member and past president of the Oran Milo Roberts Chapter, Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She also researched and compiled the History of Hancock Springs for the Texas Historical Commission and OMR-DRT.
She had many personal interests such as collecting Cobalt and Blue Willow dishes and assembling scrapbooks. She enjoyed card games and "84" dominos. However, her main enjoyment in life was her home, family, and her seven grandchildren, who called her GG.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dayton, her parents, her stepfather, R.D. Ford, her brother, T.R. Carson, and sister-in-law, Novella Carson.
Glynda is survived by her three sons and their wives, Pat and Linda, Mike and Pam, and Ray and Susan; her grandchildren, Megan, Monica, Carter (Grace), Cory (Becca), Carley, Cabri (fiance Jacob Caldwell) and Kelli Ray Lankford (Clay); her great-grandchildren, Dayton, Claire, Reece and Paxton and numerous nieces and nephews.
If you wish, donations in Glynda's memory can be made to the Lampasas Library Foundation, FBC Lampasas Preschool, or a charity of your choice.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to everyone at Lampasas Assisted Living, Lampasas Nursing and Rehabilitation, and New Century Hospice for all the care given to Glynda. Also, a special thank you to Carmen Castruita.
