Gwendoline Irene Suarez-Barrio

September 6, 1937 — February 7, 2024

Lampasas

On February 7, 2024, The Great Architect of the Universe recalled to Heaven an Angel he had sent to Earth on September 6, 1937, for her to set the example of love, faithfulness, and devotion to her family.  That angel was given the earthly name of Gwendoline.  God destined her to marry the then USAF Staff Sergeant Antonio V. Suarez-Barrio at her birthplace; Newbury, Berkshire, England on her 18th birthday, September 6, 1955.

Mrs. Suarez-Barrio traveled to the United States with her husband and later to overseas assignments in Puerto Rico, Guam, Panama, and Japan, and to several stations in the United States.  She has resided in Central Texas since 1970 and has made frequent trips to England with her family to visit her English relatives.  From 1973 until her retirement in 2010 she was co-owner of Texas Truth Verification Services, a polygraph and security consulting firm with national and international clients, that she operated with her husband and with him traveled to several different countries in Central and South America, as well as Western Europe.

Mrs. Suarez-Barrio enjoyed gardening, decorating, and raising goats and miniature donkeys at the family ranch in Adamsville, Texas.  She is survived by her husband, Dr. Antonio V. Suarez-Barrio; a daughter, Maria Suarez-Barrio of Burnet, TX, and her husband George Gargaro; her son, Retired Lampasas Police Sergeant Antonio M. Suarez-Barrio, of Lampasas and his fiance, Mary Mendez; grandson Chris, and great-grandsons, Noah and Lucas as well as several relatives in England.

A private graveside service was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas, Texas, with no prior ceremony, as she wished.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Texas Shriner's Children's Hospital.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Advent Health Central Texas Women's Center in Killeen, New Century Hospice, and Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas for their extraordinary services, advice, professionalism, and compassion.
