Herman Edward Garner, Jr. passed away on February 22, 2024, at Lampasas Nursing and Rehabilitation after a brief illness.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Ed was born February 20, 1945, at Rollins Brook Hospital in Lampasas to his parents, Emma Laura Bates Garner and Herman Edward Garner, Sr.  He grew up in Lampasas and graduated from Lampasas High School in 1963.  He lived in Bertram, TX, and Leander, TX, and worked at Glastron Boat Company for 10 years.  He then became self-employed as a rancher and a used car dealer followed by employment at the Lampasas Cattle Auction for many years.

Ed's passion was horses, he enjoyed training them and competing in playday events or going on trail rides.  Ed married Jerri Pierce after high school and they had two children.

On December 7, 1996, he married Patsy Zucha Garner. They recently celebrated 27 years of marriage.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ed is survived by his wife; his son, Wayne Garner and wife Lisa of Leander; his daughter, Julie Mullen of Austin; granddaughters, Krista and Alicia Mullen of Dallas; stepchildren, Patrick McCurdy of Lampasas, Christina Hopson of Burnet and Michael McCurdy of Early and numerous step-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister, Laura Eaton and husband Tommy of Buchanan Dam; his uncles, Jack Garner and wife Joanna of Lampasas, Richard Bates and his numerous cousins that include, Eddie Garner and wife Janice, Billy Bates and wife Tasha, Susie Wakeland and Eric Bates and wife Mary Elissa and numerous other loving family members and friends.
