Jimmy's passion for life and boundless dedication to his family and friends touched us all. With his quick wit and contagious grin, Jimmy led a full life of love and laughter.
James Marshall Garner, Sr, age 78, passed peacefully of natural causes on November 13, 2025, in Lampasas, Texas. Jimmy was born on July 4, 1947, to Leonard Marshall Garner and Emily Norine Anderson. His parents instilled in him and his siblings the values of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
After graduating from Lampasas High School in 1969, Jimmy pursued a career in construction and carpentry, running crews for several large-scale companies. Later in life, he used his extensive tooling knowledge at Lowe's, where he was the go-to guy for questions and recommendations. Jimmy retired in 2023.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Don Carl Garner, his granddaughter, Lindsey Wholaver, and his daughter, Michelle Wholaver. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Weatherford; sisters, Susie Wakeland and Dicie Merideth; his brother, Eddie Garner; his sons, John-Edward Garner and Marshall Garner, Jr.; his daughter, Roseanna Hollifield; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11 am Interment will be private.
