Jarvis Rease Carlile, age 91, passed away on February 2, 2024, in Lampasas, Texas.  He was born on June 8, 1932, in Nix, Texas to Lewis and Willie Faught Carlile.  He met the love of his life, Shirley Long, on September 10, 1952.  The two were married on July 3, 1953, and together had 3 children: David, Nina, and Jimmy.

Jarvis served in Company B 9th Ordinance Battalion in the U.S. Army made up of Texas and Oklahoma boys only.  He was an MP guard while in Germany in 1954.  Jarvis had a career as a United States Postman for over 36 years as a city carrier and after retiring he became a rural carrier for several years.

Jarvis served as a Deacon at both Adamsville Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Lampasas.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter throughout his lifetime.  He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Willie Carlile; his only brother, Lewis Carlile, Jr; his in-laws, Ben and Aline Long and numerous other family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his 3 children, David (Darlene), Nina Mickan (Gordon), and Jimmy (David); his grandchildren, Matt (Belen), John (Courtney), Britt (Jennifer), Clint, Danielle, Brooks (Jon), and his 8 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 10 am at First Baptist Church Lampasas with interment to follow at Lometa City Cemetery.
