Jeanne’s presence was a gift to her friends, neighbors, and the communities she cherished.

With heavy but grateful hearts, we remember and celebrate the life of Jeanne Marie LaFountain Bouchard, affectionately known to many as Jean, who passed from this world on July 11, 2026, in Copperas Cove, Texas. After enduring years of health struggles and a prolonged journey with hospice care, Jeanne was finally called home, released from pain and embraced by God.

Born on August 12, 1938, Jeanne’s vibrant life story began as the daughter of Joe and Jane LaFountain. From her earliest days, her gentle force and leadership left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her. Jeanne's faith and family formed the iridescent threads woven through the tapestry of her life—a life that was, while touched by sorrow and challenge, above all defined by generosity, warmth, and resilience.

Jeanne graduated with her beloved Class of 1956 from Copperas Cove High School, already establishing herself as someone who cared not just for academic achievement but for the connections and community around her. Her pursuit of knowledge did not end there. She later earned her Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating with high honors—a testament to her intelligence, discipline, and unwavering drive.

The circle of Jeanne’s love and influence extended deeply into her family. She is survived by a loving and large family: her daughter Rebecca Haston; son Steven and wife Deanne Haston and stepson Michael Wimett and wife Barbara; stepdaughter Heather Kattner; brothers Joseph, James, and John LaFountain; sisters June Wynn and Joanne Mitchelle; granddaughters Robin and Maria Bouchard; and grandsons James and David Wimett along with numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren also survives her. Each of them carries forward a unique piece of her legacy, forever blessed by her care and devotion.

As we honor Jeanne, we also remember those loved ones who have gone before—her husbands Joseph Bouchard, William Wimett and Robert Haston her sister Janet  Flaherty, her parents Joe and Jane LaFountain.   Their memories, shared stories, and enduring love were constant sources of strength for Jeanne and continue to connect their families in spirit.

Jeanne’s presence was a gift to her friends, neighbors, and the communities she cherished. Her love of traveling, knitting, card games, cooking, and reading reflected a joy for life’s simple pleasures and a boundless curiosity for the world. The libraries that she so faithfully supported—organizing book sales and fundraising through friends of the library—bear silent testament to her passion for literacy and community enrichment. In Lampasas, where she volunteered at the food mission, she was fondly and fittingly known as “The Bag Lady”—a name marked not by frivolity, but by the kindness she poured into each act of service.

Her commitment to helping others extended to her strong and active support for Holy Family Catholic Church and “My Brothers House” food pantry in Copperas Cove, ensuring that those in need found nourishment, dignity, and hope. Such steadfast compassion remains one of Jeanne’s most enduring legacies—a legacy that will continue to echo in the lives of those she aided and inspired.

To all who knew and loved Jeanne, her absence is felt deeply. At the same time, gratitude softens our grief, for we carry the blessing of her love with us always. Her laughter, strength, generosity, and unwavering spirit remind us that even as we mourn, we are called to continue her good works, love unreservedly, and cherish every bond.

Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects at the visitation on August 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Copperas Cove Location, 1614 S FM 116, Copperas Cove, TX 76522, with a Rosary service beginning at 6:00 PM. A Mass will be held in Jeanne’s honor at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1001 Georgetown Rd, Copperas Cove, TX 76522, on August 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Following the Mass, a graveside service will take place at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542, at 1:00 PM.  Reception at Holy Family Catholic Church social hall afterwards  

As we gather in mourning and celebration, may we remember Jeanne Marie LaFountain Bouchard’s boundless heart and let her legacy live on in our deeds, our kindness, and our love for one another. She is gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
