Joann was born in Tahoka, TX on January 26, 1933, to James King Smedley and Ethel Ophelia (Jones) Smedley.  She had many jobs during her life which include working at Walmart in Lampasas when it first opened for many years, running the stamp center at H-E-B, working at Lampasas Nursing and Rehabilitation, Mother's Day Out at Grace Fellowship, and volunteering her time at Nursing homes helping with social activities.  Her number one job was being GG and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.  She always made sure to attend all of their events and show up to anything they were involved in.  She was also the caregiver for many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while they were growing up while mom and dad were at work.  For the past couple of years, she enjoyed making brownies, DAILY, for her great-grandchildren and all of their friends and always had them ready for them every day.  She also loved her animals, loved children, and never met a stranger.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Morgan; her sisters, Syble Nelson, Jean Szydlik, and Dorothy Taylor; her brother, JW Smedley; her granddaughter, Kassie Baker and her great-grandson, Mason Baker.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Baker, and husband Vernon; her sister-in-law, Dessie Smedley; her grandchildren, Jennifer Harris and husband JP, Jessica Fincher, and husband Justin; her great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Kadi-ann Harris, Kaelie and Radley Fincher and numerous other loving family members.
