John Francis Collins, a dedicated soldier and beloved family man, passed away on June 1, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on May 22, 1954, John embodied a life of commitment and service, most notably demonstrated by his 24 years of honorable service in the United States Army, retiring with the respected rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC).
John’s distinguished military career was marked by discipline, courage, and dedication. His service to his country stands as a testament to his character and sense of duty, qualities that he also brought to his role as a husband and father. John also retired after 10 years as an HVAC Technician with his wife.
He shared 28 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Joyce Collins, with whom he built a loving home filled with warmth and steadfast support. Together, they raised their children and enjoyed the blessings of family life. John is survived by his son, Stuart Collins, and daughter, Michelle Collins, his granddaughters, Sarah Collins and Aurora, big brother Bill, sister Jeanne, brother Mike, and several neices and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, William Collins Sr. and Isabel Collins.
Honoring his life and service, a visitation will be held on June 18, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Copperas Cove Location, 1614 S FM 116, Copperas Cove, TX 76522. Following this, a graveside service will take place on the same day from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542.
John Francis Collins' legacy of military distinction, unwavering dedication to his family, and heartfelt kindness to those around him will continue to be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. His memory remains a guiding light for his loved ones and a symbol of honorable service to his country.
