John Hatley "JD", 18, of Lampasas, Texas passed away on July 17, 2026. JD was born on May 18, 2008 in Georgetown to Richard and Lori Hatley.

From a young age, he brought energy, sassy humor and kindness to everyone around him. He had a big heart and loved helping his grandmas and his friends, whether through small acts of service or just being there when they needed him. He was passionate about many things, including music, puppetry, and his dream of owning his own Limo/Party Buss Chauffeur business. JD also had a deep love for Bush's chicken - his friends there always had his order ready to go by the time he made it to the counter. JD was a dedicated martial artist, he earned his black belt in Taekwondo and trained and taught with discipline and focus. He was a strong athlete who competed in bowling, basketball, and track, earning a challenge coin for his athleticism and achievements.

JD's vibrant spirit, love of life, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

JD is survived by his parents, Richard and Lori Hatley; his brother , Brandon Hatley; his grandparents, Peggy Hatley, Brenda Ingram, Donny and Michi Ingram and many other relatives and friends whose lives he touched.

A visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 6 pm to 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Lampasas Special Olympics using the venmo code @lorilorilalala

Though his time on earth was far too short, JD's memory will live on in the stories, the music, the friendships, and the acts of kindness he shared so freely.  He will forever be remembered as a devoted son, brother, grandson, loyal friend and bright young man with a warrior's heart.
