Joseph (Frank) F. Pabis II

September 23, 1971 — February 25, 2026

Kempner

Joseph F. Pabis II of Kempner, Texas, passed away on February 25, 2026.  He was known as "Frank" by his family and friends.

Frank was born on September 23, 1971, to Joseph F. Pabis and Maria M. Pabis.  He was born along with his identical twin brother in the Panama Canal Zone where his father was stationed while serving in the United States Army.  When the twins were just months old, their father was transferred to Fort Hood, Texas and the family moved to Harker Heights.

After Frank graduated from Killeen High School in 1990, he worked for the U.S. Army Morale, Welfare, and Recreation on Fort Hood at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area for several years.  He also worked for the Killeen Independent School District and spent almost a decade working for Willow Springs Apartments in Killeen.  Frank then attended truck driving school and received his commercial driver's license.  He drove big rigs throughout Texas and the nation, seeing the country all while doing his job.  Most recently he was employed with McGuire Transportation of Temple, Texas.

Frank was a lifelong outdoorsman.  He loved fishing, hunting, fossil collecting, camping, looking for arrowheads, cast iron Dutch oven cooking and riding his motorcycle.  More recently Frank had not hunted but instead found a new hobby feeding deer in the front yard.  He even adjusted the doorbell camera so that he could watch the deer when he was on the road.  He was an avid collector of cardinals, frogs, and cast iron.

Joseph F. Pabis II "Frank" was preceded in death by his mother, Maria M. Pabis.  Frank leaves behind his wife, Paula Boales Pabis; his father, Joseph F. Pabis; his twin brother, Joseph A. Pabis "Tony" and wife Barbara Cooper-Pabis; his daughter, Brandi Hernandez; his stepdaughter, Shay Mueller and husband William; and his step-granddaughter, Adelyn Mueller.  In addition, he leaves behind nieces, Callen Pabis and Catia Pabis along with many cousins, several aunts, and many friends who loved him and will miss him.

Burial will be in Killeen Memorial Park where a private graveside service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
