Joyce Ann Bronaugh

Apr 4, 1940 — Sep 2, 2026

Buda

Joyce Ann (Schmalstieg) Bronaugh of Buda, Texas, was born in Beeville, TX, on April 4, 1940, to John Henry Schmalstieg and Edith (McCammon) Schmalstieg.  Joyce grew up on a farm, which forged her spirit of determination to work hard, sow love, and water every situation with joy.

She graduated from Sinton High School as Valedictorian and attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas, which is where she met her future husband.  She later graduated from the University of Texas in Austin.  Joyce lived a life centered on faith, family, and service.  She promoted education and was a devoted educator.  Most importantly, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Her final 'Graduation' was on September 2, 2026.

As a pastor's wife, Joyce faithfully served alongside her husband, playing the piano and organ, encouraging many to grow in their faith.  They served as Presbyterian pastors in Boldtville and Burnet, Texas; Potosi, Missouri; Calvert City, Kentucky; and Ballinger, Big Spring, and Schulenburg, Texas.  After many years of ministry, Joyce and her husband retired to Lampasas, Texas.  Following the passing of her beloved husband of 59 years, she moved to the Garland area and later made her home in Buda, Texas.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Bronaugh, of 59 years.  She is survived by three children: Bert Allen, Jr., JoBeth, and Ann; nine grandchildren whom she adored, and twelve great-grandchildren, which brought a twinkle to her eye.  Joyce was the oldest of five children and is survived by her four siblings, Linda Gant, Jackie Arnold, John Schmalstieg, and Dawna Kunze.

Joyce's life of faith, service, and devotion to her family will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A celebration of Joyce's life was held at Faith Assembly of God in Buda, Texas, on September 13, 2026.  A graveside service will be held at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet County, TX, at 10 am on Saturday, October 10, 2026
