Julie grew up in Oyster Creek, Texas and graduated from Brazosport High School (1970) in Freeport, Texas. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas and then served in the United States Air Force. Julie married William (Bill) Raley in 1993 and after Bill retired, they moved to Lampasas, Texas. Julie and Bill were active both in their church and their community. Julie was a selfless person who was always ready to help. She volunteered with Meals-On-Wheels, the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity. Julie enjoyed being on a Houston Rodeo BBQ Cook Off Team for decades, going on vacations for years with her ski group, hosting family reunions at her condos and camping with two groups.
Julie was loved by many people - but animals loved her too! Julie was like a magnet for animals. Often animals would bypass everyone else and go straight to Julie. People, including strangers, would bring Julie animals they could no longer care for, and Julie always took them in and loved them.
Julie was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Raley, her father, Robert Lee (RL) Davis, her mother, Ruby Henegar Davis, stepmother, Hester Bell Henegar Davis, her brother, Robert Lee (Bobby) Davis and her sister, Mary Alice Swanson.
Julie is survived by her sisters, Scarlett Mankowsky (Michael) of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, Jan Finley (Blaine) of Spotsylvania, Virginia and Jennie Veselka (Jack, deceased) of Angleton, Texas. Additionally, Julie is survived and beloved by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
