Kathy Edgar

Kathleen Dougherty Edgar, 75, passed away on August 15, 2024, in Lampasas, TX.  She was born on April 16, 1949, in Corpus Christi, TX to Walter and Letha Dougherty.  Funeral services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Third St., Lampasas, TX, on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 3 pm with visitation an hour prior.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.

Kathy grew up in Pasadena, TX, and graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena in 1967.  After high school, she went to work for Kellog and then married the man of her dreams, Jerry "JW" Edgar in 1968. They were happily married for 45 years.  Kathy attended night classes at San Jacinto College. She received an associate's degree in Accounting while raising two boys and working at Pasadena ISD for over 25 years with her best friend Pat.  She retired in 2013 to take care of Jerry who had become terminally ill.  Kathy attended Missouri Street Church of Christ in the 1970s and 1980s and Water's Road Church of Christ in the 1990s.  In 2007, Kathy and Jerry moved to Highlands, TX where they began to attend Crosby Church of Christ.

Kathy was the church secretary for numerous years and frequently volunteered at hospitals and nursing homes, as well as assisting in numerous church functions.  But, most of her treasured time was spent with her grandchildren, going to all of their extracurricular activities, going to Starbucks, having cousin night at her house, and anything that her grandchildren wanted to do.  Often saying "It's paw paw's money, let's spend it!"

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Letha Dougherty, and her husband, Jerry Edgar.

Kathy is survived by her amazing dog "Miss E"; her son, Michael Edgar, and wife Julie of Mont Belvieu, TX; her son, David Edgar, and wife Lisa of Lometa, TX; her brother, Wayne Dougherty; her sister, Elaine; her seven amazing granddaughters, Madyson, Emily, Brooklynne, Shelby, Sadie, Braidyn and Kaci Edgar.
