Kitty Marie Guyer, age 86, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2026. She was born in Poplar Bluff, MO, on July 31, 1940.
Kitty met, married, and became an Army wife to Gary Guyer on July 19, 1959. They traveled to various U.S. States and to Germany during Gary's military service, and during that time they became the proud parents of three daughters. Kitty placed her college plans on hold while Gary was deployed to the Vietnam War. After Gary and Kitty were reunited and all three daughters graduated high school, Kitty returned to college at age 45. She attended Central Texas College, graduated, and began her eighteen-year nursing career working alongside Dr. Nair in Killeen, TX. While Kitty was not working on taking care of her own family, she spent a great deal of her life exuding a tremendous giving spirit. Cooking delectable meals, sewing and making handmade heartfelt gifts, or a nice long visit were customary tokens of her loving and caring ways. Baking goods and meals from scratch were her specialties. When she shared her homemade novelties, she always added that extra touch by adorning each gift with beautiful wrapping paper, homemade bows, and her personalized tags - "made especially for you by Kitty." She also made numerous people happy by just offering to help them in any way she could.
Kitty was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Guyer; her daughter, Laurie (Guyer) Holloway; her father, Benjamin Brentlinger; and her mother, Mildred Brentlinger.
She is survived by her brother, James Brentlinger; her daughters, Libby (Guyer) Ewing, and Susan (Guyer) Gessner; her grandchildren, Emily Holloway, Benjamin Gessner, and Hannah Gessner.
Kitty always cherished the elaborate parties she hosted and made a request to her grandchildren to throw a private lavish party upon her passing. There will be no formal service. Interment will be at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX, where her husband was laid to rest. In lieu of a funeral, the family asks that you privately celebrate Kitty Guyer's memory by pouring a glass of her favorite Riesling wine, put on some Elvis Presley music and perform unexpected acts of kindness just as she did, and share fond memories of Kitty Guyer with someone you love.
