Lavonie "Vonnie" Hoozer Woods, 84, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away on December 23, 2025.  She was born on December 15, 1941, in Beaumont, Texas, to Earl and Hazel Smith Hoozer.

Vonnie was raised in Vidor, Texas, where she graduated from Vidor High School in 1960.  Shortly afterward, she proudly served her country in the United States Army.  Her military service ended after the birth of her first child in 1963, when she returned home and began a new chapter centered on family and work.

Throughout her life, Vonnie took on many roles.  She worked as a keypunch operator, a substitute teacher, and later became a bookstore owner in Marble Falls.  Whatever the job, she brought determination, independence, and a willingness to lend a hand wherever it was needed.

Faith was an important part of Vonnie's life.  She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for most of her life and found comfort, strength, and community through her faith.

Vonnie is survived by her son, Charles Woods Jr., and his wife, Jan, of Marble Falls; her daughter, Cindy Woods of Kingsland; her granddaughters, Olivia Rich and her husband, Cam, of Marble Falls, and Annie Zimmerer and her husband Josh, of Denton, Texas; her brother, William Hoosier, and his wife, Linda, of Vidor, Texas; and her sister, Lanelle Jordan and her husband, James, of Lampasas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Hazel Hoozer; her brothers, Earl Jr., Robert, David, John, and Michael Hoozer; and her sisters, Laura Stanley and Shirley Cooley.

Vonnie will be remembered for her strength, her faith, and her deep love for her family.  She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, wiener-dogs, and traveling.  She was also a longtime fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros and followed both teams faithfully over the years.  Some of her happiest moments were spent at family game nights and holidays, surrounded by family and friends.  Her love for her many siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends was truly boundless.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the San Antonio VA Hospital and the Kerrville clinic, as well as to Miss Kaci Hamilton, whose devoted care allowed Vonnie to remain in her home during her final months.

A memorial service will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11 am.  Interment will take place at Rock Church Cemetery in Rumley, Texas.
