Survivors include his brothers, Bill Utley (Tammy) and Monroe Matchen; his sisters, Carolyn Krueger (Scott), Connie Hendrix (Tim), Martha Pinckney (Lane), and Kay Gill (Joe). He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mark was LOVED. He lived his life to the fullest and always had a million-dollar smile on his face. He was the youngest of 6 siblings. He grew up loving his Shetland pony, Schatzi. He loved all hamburgers (no cheese), playing music with his sticks, and one of his favorite things to do was visit the fire department. He attended Lampasas schools and had many special teachers along the way. He enjoyed pep rallies and was the recipient of the spirit stick many times. He attended the Primitive Baptist Church, and he especially enjoyed their meals. Mark lived in a group home in Burnet, Texas, in his 20s and 30s, eventually moving back to Lampasas. He then lived in local nursing facilities the remainder of his life. His caregivers became family, and they loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Lampasas Fire Department and Lampasas High School Alumni Scholarship Fund (located in the LISD Admin Office).
