Mary Kay Briggs

Mary Kay Briggs of Lampasas died Sunday May 31, 2020 at home. Ms. Briggs was 81. She was the daughter of D.T. and Carmen Smith Briggs. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Library Science from North Texas State College (now University of North Texas) in 1961. A Civil Service employee, she was in charge of libraries on military installations. She served in Texas, The Canal Zone, Pakistan, California, South Korea, Hawaii and Japan. Kay retired after 36 years of service. She loved a good story, a friendly chat, moments of quiet solitude and time spent with family and friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lampasas. She is survived by her brother, Todd Briggs and wife Nona Jane, nieces, Kim Munn and Barbara Briggs, great-nephews, Michael Munn and wife Amanda, Evan Munn and wife Anna and great-niece, Meredith Munn, and by several cousins. A graveside funeral will be held Saturday June 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Lampasas Public Library, Lampasas County Museum or First United Methodist Church of Lampasas.
