Mary Lee Stewart

October 29, 1926 — August 10, 2022

Mary Lee Harris Stewart, 95, was reunited with her heavenly Father on August 10, 2022, at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas.  She was born on October 29, 1926, in Roy, Arkansas to Tallie Harris and Florence Cooley Harris.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, with refreshments to follow in the fellowship hall.

Mary Lee grew up in Pike County, Arkansas which is a small farming community.  She graduated from Murfreesboro High School where she played on the women's basketball team and was chosen to complete business courses.

Mary Lee married Dallas Stewart in 1947, in Texarkana, Arkansas and they were happily married for 54 years.  Mary Lee and Dallas spent 35 years moving 22 times, in the construction business, before retiring in Lampasas.

Mary Lee was an avid seamstress, who loved sewing, and loved fashion.  She took great pride in her yard and keeping an impeccable home.  She worked for Rutland's, Harry's Fabric Store, and JB Whites thru the years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church Lampasas for many years and in her later years a member of First United Methodist Church Lampasas.

Mary Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Stewart; son, Gary Stewart; her parents, Tallie and Florence Cooley Harris; brothers, Glenn (Hank), James, and Arnold; precious sister-in-law, Mollie Harris; brothers-in-law, Ralph, Charles, Bill, and Nicky Stewart; sisters-in-law, Sue and Ina Jo Stewart.

Mary Lee is survived by her daughter, Paula Wright, and favorite son-in-law, Michael of Brady, TX; daughter-in-law, Carol Stewart of Kaysville, Utah; grandchildren, Collyn Wright of Menard, Tallie Isbell and husband, Coty of Lubbock, Ashley Martin and husband, Kris of Utah; great-grandchildren, Aminy, Kalani, Eisley, Taj, Knox, and Ruby; sister-in-law, Iline Taddlock, numerous nieces and nephews and bonus daughter, Julie Canales

The family would like to thank Lampasas Assisted Living for the excellent care and love the staff showed Mary Lee.  We would also like to thank her faithful friend Nancy Stephens and those who were faithful with calls and visits.
