Matthew Weston Major, 35, passed away on the 28th of August 2023 in Kyle, Texas. He was born on the 11th of September 1987 in Dallas, Texas to Michael and Candy (Bockhoff) Major.
Matthew grew up in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory in Dallas, Texas in 2006. After high school, he attended college at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2011. After college he began work for Canoe Ventures as a Software Integration and Testing Engineer where he worked for 12 years. He spent his personal time offering his mechanical, technical, and apiary skills to neighbors, friends, and family. He always sought to help anyone who would benefit from his myriad skills.
Matthew started a partnership with Amy Livingston during the last year of college and got married in 2016 in Denver, Colorado. They were happily married for 7 years. He celebrated her and made her feel like the luckiest woman in the world with all of his love and understanding. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, helping and motivating others, game-ifying life, being self-sufficient, and figuring out how things worked. He aimed to minimize his impact on the planet, while maximizing his impact on everyone around him. He succeeded in being named the funniest man known (by his nephew). Matthew was a joy to be around, a light in every room he entered, and a partner anyone would be envious of having.
Matthew is survived by his spouse, Amy; his parents, Michael and Candy; his sisters, Kathryn (Michael) Mills and Abbey Major (Shane Torgerson); his nieces and nephews, Ahren, Jaxon, Samantha, Daniel, Aleksander, Adalyn, Sienna, and John, and his best friend, Ryan.
Amy's family feels honored and blessed to have such a loving and appreciative son and brother as Matthew join their family.
