Michael Chad January

May 4, 1999 — June 7, 2023

On Wednesday, June 7, Michael Chad January, 24, of Lampasas, passed into the arms of Jesus with his parents and loved ones by his side.  Michael was born on May 4, 1999, in Round Rock, Texas to Amy Mahana and Chad January.  Michael lived his entire life in Lampasas and went to school in Lampasas from kindergarten until his graduation in 2017.  Michael spent one semester at Texas A&M Kingsville before returning home in 2018 to work for the Texas Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer in San Saba until he was sidelined due to being diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma.

Michael loved the outdoors and he loved to fish at the Bend and to hunt hogs.  He was also a very active deer hunter and loved to be out on the ranch helping to work the cows.  Michael fought a hard battle with cancer for almost 3 1/2 years.  He never gave up and never lost his faith in God.  Michael recently said if one person could be brought to Christ thru his suffering, then it was worth it.

Michael is survived by his parents, Amy and Shane Brown, and Chad January all of Lampasas; his brother, Benjamin Brown; former fiance, Rebecca Faught and son Kooper Hayes Hankins; his grandparents, Sandra and Jeff Poole, Ronnie and Glenda January, Susie Wakeland and Tommy Mack Brown all of Lampasas.  Michael is also survived by his loving "Aunt Tracy" January of Lampasas, and Uncle Mike and Aunt Angela "Aunie" Mahana of Frisco, TX; his cousins, Kailie Phelan and Presli Peters of Lampasas and Tyler Phelan of Copperas Cove as well as Christian Mahana of Frisco, TX.  Other survivors include a wonderful group of friends who were like brothers to him, Morris Wilkins, Jack Hyatt, Hunter Wilson, Braedon Raub, all of Lampasas, Andy Clark, Joshua Williams, Josh Deen, and Nick, Anthony, and Josh Henniger from the Bend.  As well as his second mom, Sherry Wilkins, and his "sister from another mister", Cassandra Wilkins.  Michael is also survived by extended family members, James Rogers of Goldthwaite, Marcus and Beth Foster of Adamsville, Rodney and Rena Andrews, Bill and Linda Luce, and Darrell Raub all of Lampasas and the Clark, Henniger and Deen Families of Bend, TX.

Services will be held at Adamsville Baptist Church on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 2 pm with visitation an hour prior.  The interment will take place on the family's land in Lampasas County.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."

2 Timothy 4:7-8
