Myrtle "Bernice" Shipp

October 2, 1935 — March 6, 2024

Myrtle "Bernice" Shipp, born on October 2, 1935, peacefully departed this earthly life on March 6, 2024, to be with the Lord.  She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering devotion.

Bernice was a devoted wife, standing by her husband, A.L. Shipp, for an impressive 50 years.  Their enduring partnership exemplified commitment, resilience, and shared laughter.  A.L. preceded her in death, but their love story continues to inspire those who knew them.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Theron and Nina (Mathews) Huggins; her brothers, Odell Huggins and Marice Huggins; three sisters and her great-grandson, Tristyn Ross.

As a mother, Bernice poured her heart into raising their five children: Randy Shipp, Brenda Virdell, Melinda Shipp, Glenda McKneely, and Paula Gola.  She is also survived by her loving sister, Louise Lykins.  Her nurturing spirit and wisdom shaped their lives, leaving an indelible mark on each of them.

Bernice's told as Grandmother was equally significant.  She cherished her 16 grandchildren, celebrating their milestones, offering encouragement, and sharing her unwavering faith.  Among them were T.J. Shipp, Miranda Tankersley, Quint Gola, Kirstyn Bauerkemper, Cody Gola, Travis Mathes, Charles Manning, Chanelle Ross, Cody McKneely, Curt McKneely, Caleb Virdell, Kiley Bounds, Ty Virdell, Jacy Juergens, Coby Pimm, and Stephanie Watson.  Their laughter and love filled her heart with eternal joy.

Her legacy also extends to her 28 great-grandchildren: Jody, Hillary, Hunter, Kelly, Clarence, Cash, Gabrielle, Teija, Maddox, Lexus, Grayson, Heron, Emori, Kalee, Colton, Jaxon, Beaux, Caiden, Hazel, Magnolia, Maine, Mason, Wylie, Cole, Elijah, Tyler, Hannah and Stetson, all held a special place in her heart and kept a smile on her face.

In addition to children and grandchildren, Bernice leaves behind more cherished nieces and nephews than we could possibly list in one obituary.
