Oneta Jo (Meixner) Eubanks, 80, passed away on November 1, 2025, at Scott & White Hospice in Temple, TX. She was born on March 31, 1945, in Taylor, Texas, to Robert Harmon and Margaret Avis (Galbreath) Meixner.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Salada United Methodist Church, 650 Royal Street, Salado, Texas, at 11:00 a.m. on November 14, 2025.
Oneta grew up in various small towns in West Texas. She graduated early from Vega High School in Vega, Texas, in the 1962-63 school year. After high school, she attended McMurry College in Abilene, Texas. Before graduating, she married Jackie Edwin Eubanks. She returned to college later in life and completed her degree in Art from McMurry University.
Oneta was a mother, homemaker, and accomplished artist. Her ability to create seemed almost limitless. Her loved ones were the recipients of custom-made clothing (including wedding, prom, and homecoming dresses), Christmas ornaments and characters, ceramics, clay figures and vessels, original illustrated stories, papier mache piñatas and keepsakes, paintings, and other items too numerous to mention. She is daily remembered by her family through the creations she shared and which are never far from sight. Her home truly reflected her unique interests and style, and there were always collections of random items that she was saving for a project.
Her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren, and there were no lengths to which she would not go to express her love for them. Her patience was seemingly endless, and her creativity extended to the fun games, stories, and activities she invented for their entertainment. If someone was restless or unhappy, she always had an idea or activity to suggest. She put her artistic stamp on each of her children and grandchildren (some more obviously than others...) and imparted her lifelong love of reading.
Oneta was the daughter of a Methodist minister and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
Oneta was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack, and his wife, Bobbie. She is survived by her daughters, Sabina (Kirk) Knight and Salina (Patrick) Brown and son Ethan (Sonya) Eubanks; her brothers, Harmon (Tanya) Meixner, Ralph (Val) Meixner, and Moody (Kay) Meixner; her grandchildren, Nikaela (Jared) Hutchens, Zane Knight, Arin Knight, Quade Brown, Kinley Eubanks, Wrook Brown, and Kenna Jo Eubanks; her great-granddaughter, Ellington Hutchens and her beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Salado United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 771, Salado, TX, 76571.
