Pansy Hughes Urofsky passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026. She was born in Kempner, Texas, on August 30, 1936, to Saba and George Hughes. Pansy married Murray Urofsky on February 16, 1957. They were blessed with four children: Philip, Craig, Jeff, and Christy.
Pansy deeply valued her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed supporting them at sporting events and was a dedicated supporter of the Badgers across various sports. She was a pillar of strength for her family and exemplified love and compassion. She was the kind of woman who left every room a little brighter than she found it. Pansy greatly enjoyed spending quality time with her family. She was an excellent cook and looked forward to visiting her sister's house on Sundays for family dinners, where they often spent the day together and concluded the evening playing a game of 31. She was willing to make sacrifices to ensure her children and grandchildren had everything they needed. Christmas was always a favorite time of year for her, and she and Murray hosted numerous holiday gatherings to celebrate the season.
She is survived by her sons, Philip Urofsky and his wife Keli, Craig Urofsky; her daughter, Christy Wiley and her husband Mike; her grandchildren, Dusti Johns and her husband Brian, Kalyn Lester and her husband John, Hannah, Dalton, and Murray Urofsky, Cade, Connelly, and Landry White, Aiden and Ryan Wiley; her great-grandchildren, Colston and Brimli Johns, and Bodee Lester. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pansy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Murray, her son Jeff, her sisters Quieta Kattner and Pamela Varney, and her brother Quentin Hughes. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Magnolia Hospice, especially Abby Moreno, for the compassionate care provided during her final month.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel from 6 pm to 8 pm. Her funeral service will be held at Lampasas Community Church on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10 am. Burial will follow at Kempner Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Urofsky Scholarship Fund at Cadence Bank of Lampasas.
