Patricia Jean Anderson

June 8, 1928 — July 10, 2020

Patricia Jean Anderson, 92, of Lampasas, died July 10, 2020 at Franklin Park Assisted Living in Round Rock, Texas. She was cremated, and her remains will be interred in the Oak Hill Cemetery Columbarium at a private service. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Sneed Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Pat was born June 8, 1928, in Houston, Texas to John Donald Harmier and Mary Velma (Cook) Harmier. On graduating from Jeff Davis High School, she was awarded a scholarship to Houston Business College, from which she later graduated. She was employed as a secretary and office manager by a Houston insurance agency, while also attending classes at the University of Houston. In 1948, she met Jim Anderson, a Shell Oil engineer, on a blind date while visiting a friend in Eagle Lake, Texas. They were married in Houston on April 14, 1950. Pat soon decided to give up her career and become a full-time, stay-at-home homemaker and mother. She was a success at both. Jim’s job entailed frequent moves and, during their seventy years of marriage, Pat made a home at fourteen different locations. They had two daughters, Susan Gail, born in Corpus Christi, and Mary Grace, born in Midland. Pat loved, and devoted herself to her family, her home, her church, her friends, and her pets. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Lampasas. When she and Jim retired to Lampasas from Houston in 1986, they took on the task of lovingly restoring an 1882 house on Third Street. Pat enjoyed working on the old house, gardening, cooking and visiting. Pat lost her sight in 2015 and that together with a stroke she suffered in 2019 necessitated moving to Round Rock, a place where she could get the professional care she needed, but her heart never left Lampasas. She is survived by her husband, George J. Anderson; two daughters, Susan Gail Anderson of Lampasas, and Mary Grace (Brian) Kuehne of New Orleans; three grandchildren, William J. Kuehne of Houston, Ian B. Kuehne of Santa Barbara, CA, and Elizabeth G. Kuehne of New Orleans; a brother, Donald Paul Harmier of Houston; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Harmier of Houston and Kathleen Lees of Hendersonville, NC; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials may be made to Lampasas Community Cats-TNR, or Lampasas Animal Shelter.
