Patricia (Patty) Ruth Hill, 88, passed away July 21, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia.
Patty was born August 30, 1937, in Oklahoma City, OK to Lloyd and Mamye Boardman. She grew up in Orange, TX and moved to Corpus Christi, TX at age 18. She attended the University of Corpus Christi while working as a draftsman for the Texas Highway Department.
While attending the University, Patty went on a blind date where she met her future husband, Roger Hill. They were married on May 23, 1959, in Corpus Christi. Patty graduated a year later with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
In 1960, they moved to Fort Worth where Patty continued to work for the Texas Highway Department while Roger was in seminary. They moved to Three Forks, MT in 1963 to pastor the First Baptist Church. During their time in Three Forks, Patty faithfully served alongside her husband as a pastor's wife. She loved teaching women's Bible study classes, shared her passion of music by playing the piano and organ, and supported their three children in all their various activities. Patty was also a teacher for the Three Forks Public Schools for 18 years. She loved making fudge for her family when the Dallas Cowboys played on Monday night Football. She loved watching football and was known for changing her team based on who was winning.
Following their time in Three Forks, they lived in Missoula and Billings supporting local churches and pastors. After 54 years in Montana, Patty was ready to get away from the cold winters so they moved back to the warm south and settled in Lampasas, TX. They made many very special friends while in Lampasas. This also meant Patty was closer to one of her favorite places, the beach. Here she loved to watch the waves, the pelicans and to sit at the jetty and watch the ships go by.
Patty loved to make and share her delicious almond roca and to play games with family and friends. She loved meeting new people and there was never a day that she didn't stop and talk to someone that crossed her path. During the last months of her life, this became even more evident. She spent much time in and out of hospitals, rehab facilities, and assisted living and while this was a difficult time, she always took the time to get to know and to care for those who were caring fo her. Patty was a friend to many, loved her family, and was faithful in praying for and encouraging those around her.
Patty is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Roger Hill; her children, David Hill (Monica), Sandy Schmidt (Darryl), Susan Knowles (Jay); her grandchildren, Chad Schmidt (Elizabeth), Rachel Purdy (Erik), Morgan Crooks (Ian), Erica Kirbow (Nick), Michael Hill, Melissa Schmidt, Meghan Porter (Mitchell), Rebecca Thornton (Kevin); her great-grandchildren, Kira Crooks, Levi Crooks, Madison Purdy, plus 2 on the way.
Patty is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Mamye Boardman and her sister, Ann Campbell.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 7, at First Baptist Church, Lampasas, TX at 11 am with visitation an hour prior.
The burial will take place in Three Forks, Montana at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital.
