Raleigh Houston Van Trease

July 4, 1961 — January 17, 2021

Raleigh Houston Van Trease, a successful lawyer and businessman, and resident of Austin, Texas died unexpectedly on January 17, 2021, at his ranch in Lampasas County.

Van Trease is survived by his wife, Leslie Paige Van Trease; his mother, Doris Van Trease; his two brothers, Buck Austin Van Trease and Clint Dallas Van Trease.  He is also survived by his nephew and two nieces, James Austin Van Trease, Cecilia Tyler Van Trease, and Billie Kaye Houston Van Trease.  Additionally, he is survived by his stepsons, Barrett Oliver Tilson and Logan Donald Tilson.  He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Van Trease.

Raleigh was born on July 4, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles and Doris Van Trease.  He graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, then received both his master's degree in political science and his law degree from the University of Kansas.  From his mid 20's Raleigh has made his home in the Austin area.

Raleigh was a devoted husband, son, brother, and uncle.  An avid outdoorsman, he spent many weekends at the Van Trease ranch in Lampasas, Texas.  Raleigh had diverse interests and excelled in so many of those interests.  As an accomplished guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, he spent countless hours entertaining family and friends.  Hobbies included boating and flying airplanes, for which he received his sea captain's license and his private pilot license.  Raleigh had a keen sense of humor and could often be found laughing and telling jokes.

Raleigh will be most remembered as one who loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart.  His dedication to his Christian faith has encouraged and uplifted countless people, and brought him blessings and peace beyond measure.

Memorial donations may be made in Raleigh's name to Austin Ridge Bible Church.

Graveside Services will be held at Townsen Cemetery in Adamsville on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

The family invites you to join in a celebration of his life at Austin Ridge Bible Church Amphitheater, 9300 Bee Cave Road (behind Bldg. D) on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 1:00 p.m.
