1st Sgt Ralph H. Canitz, 88, of Denton, TX died February 5, 2020 at his home. He was born December 30, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI the youngest child of Henry Canitz and Stella (Funk) Canitz. He was preceded in death by his parents, by sister Audrey, by daughter, Linda Pulatie, by brother Henry Canitz Jr. and by his wife Annie Marie Canitz in 2011. He entered the Army March 9, 1950 and served until retiring in September of 1973. Ralph served during Korean with the 2nd Infantry Division and did 2 tours in Vietnam 1st Cav. Peace time tours included; Alaska, Panama and Korea. While stationed at Ft. Benning, GA he met and married Annie Marie Miller from Bessemer, Al on August 8, 1952. Ralph received several military awards including; Combat Infantry badge, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service medal, 3 Commendation medals (one with V).   Survivors are; 2 sons; Jeffrey Canitz of Colorado and Kenneth Canitz of Arkansas Daughter, Charlene Chamberlin of Denton 7 grandchildren; Jason, Daniel, Jennifer, Jeremy, Scott, Heather and Taylor. 10 great-grandchildren   Funeral service is Monday February 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral.
