Richard Carl "Dick" Moran, age 92, passed away on August 26, 2023, at Lampasas Assisted Living in Lampasas, TX after a long battle with lung disease.  He was born on April 2, 1931, in Burlington, VT to Joseph S. "Pete" and Alma Butler Moran.

Per Dick's wishes, there will be a memorial service and interment at the Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen, TX, on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 10 am.

Dick moved to Lampasas in 2018 upon the death of his beloved wife, June P. Axton, to live near family.  He grew up in Burlington, Vermont.  He graduated from Edmund's High School in Burlington in 1950.  After high school, Dick went to business college in Burlington.  He joined the Army and received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.  He was discharged in 1954 as a Sergeant First Class.  Dick spent most of his career as an Analyst for the U.S. Government Treasury with the IRS for over 30 years receiving the Albert Gallatin Award.  This award is the Treasury's highest career Service award.

Dick was a published writer.  He especially enjoyed writing poems.  He was an active member of the Edmund's High School Alumni Organization.  He loved the New York Yankees and knew detailed statistics of them.  He was a big lover of dogs.

Dick married June Axton in 1966 in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.  They were very devoted to each other and were blessed with 52 years before June passed away in 2018.  In addition to his wife, Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Lawrence N. Moran in 2007, and his daughter, Lorraine Moran Bosley in 2017.

Dick is survived by his daughter, Suzanne D. Moran (Robert) Baxter of Lampasas, Texas, who lovingly cared for her dad.  Dick is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Sandra Duplantie Moran of Johnson, VT and several grandchildren including Katherine A. Baxter of Lampasas, TX, and Rebecca Baxter (John) Wisecup of Newport, Rhode Island.  Dick also had many great-grandchildren, but will be especially missed by Chet Harrison of Lampasas, TX, and Lizzie Wisecup of Newport, Rhode Island.

The family would like to thank everyone at Lampasas Assisted Living and New Century Hospice, especially his nurse Kayla, Darlena, and Chaplain Michael Jordan.  Both Lampasas Assisted Living and New Century Hospice cared for Dick with expertise and love.

Dick was a loving, honest, and thoughtful man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
