Rita Schiver, born on June 26, 1952, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, passed away on August 12, 2025, in Killeen, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of adventure, warmth, and infectious laughter. A devoted Family Readiness Assistant at Ft. Hood, Rita made a profound impact through her career, embodying the spirit of service and caring that defined her life.

A proud alumnus of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, where she earned her BA in Sociology and Psychology, Rita's education was a foundation for her passion for helping others. She applied this knowledge not just in her professional life but in every interaction, touching the hearts of family, friends, and community members alike.

Rita was known for her adventurous personality and vibrant spirit, always seeking new experiences and cherishing the moments spent with her loved ones. She actively engaged in hobbies that brought joy, including spending quality time with her family and friends, as well as doting on her beloved pets. Her laughter was contagious, and her genuine warmth left an everlasting imprint on all who knew her.

Rita’s greatest pride came from her family. She is survived by her devoted spouse, Richard, and her loving children: Jolene Hemphill (Jeff), Shannon Trevino (Patricia), Jarrod Muff (Shonda), Shelley Baker, Shanna Brock (Bubba), and Stacy Schiver (Ellen). Her heart swelled with love for her son, Dean Marsh, who predeceased her, and her grandchildren: Jack & Sarah Hemphill, Justin & Jordan Marsh, Dylan Muff, Ryan Trevino, Melanie Savage (Shane), and Clayton Baker (Hailey), who were the lights of her life.

Rita will also be dearly missed by her brother Mark Ekern (Merrie), along with her nieces, Amy and Jackie Ryan, who remember her fondly for the joy and love she brought into their lives.

Rita was preceded in death by her loving parents, Victor Ekern and Sarah Sacia, as well as her sister, Patricia Sheehan. The memory of her profound love and the strength of her spirit will forever resonate within the hearts of her family and friends.

A visitation to honor Rita will be held at the Copperas Cove Location, 1614 S FM 116, Copperas Cove, Texas, on August 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
