Robert Lee Bennett Jr., affectionately known to his loved ones as "June Bug," left this world on September 28, 2024, at the age of 66. Born on November 17, 1957, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Robert's journey through life was marked by kindness, unwavering humor, and a deep commitment to family and service.

Robert graduated from Fletcher High School in 1976 and shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the Army in 1977. Throughout his distinguished twenty-year career in artillery, he exemplified leadership as both a Drill Sergeant and a First Sergeant, earning accolades including the Army Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. His dedication led him to participate in Operation Desert Strike, enduring challenges that shaped not only his character but also his unwavering sense of duty. After his military service, he continued to support the Army's mission by working at Forthood Family Housing, always carrying forward the values he held dear.

To all who knew him, Robert was a beacon of warmth and generosity. His kind-hearted nature made everyone feel welcomed and cherished in his presence. Often with a great sense of humor, Robert possessed an infectious laughter that could brighten the darkest of days. Friends and family have fond memories of him giving the shirt off his back, always prioritizing the needs of others over his own.

A passionate sports enthusiast and lover of westerns, Robert found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished quiet afternoons fishing with family and friends, creating memories that will remain in their hearts forever. The daily conversations he shared with his big brother, Darrell, were a cherished part of his life, grounding him and bringing him such happiness.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Danielle Bennett, and his wonderful child: Robert C. Bennett and daughter-in-law Michaela Bennett. He was a proud grandfather to Christian Lee Bennett and Danielle Grace Bennett, whose laughter and love lit up his life. He is also survived by his dear siblings, Darrell K. Jackson and Denise B. Wells, who carry his spirit forward as they navigate their lives without him.

Robert is preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert Lee Bennett Sr. and Grace Elnora Bennett, as well as his siblings, Barbara Ann Bennett and Dennis A. Bennett. Their legacies live on through the love and resilience Robert instilled in his own family.

A graveside service to honor Robert's extraordinary life will be held on October 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Killeen, Texas. Family and friends are invited to come together to share stories, reflect on his life, and celebrate the impact he has made on all who knew him.

Though he has departed from this earthly realm, Robert Lee Bennett Jr.'s soul will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of those blessed to have known him. His kindness, humor, and love will echo through the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, June Bug; you will be deeply missed.
