Robert “Bobby” Hill, age 75 of Copperas Cove, went to be with his heavenly father on the evening of February 8, 2023, surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be 1:00 pm, Friday, February 24, 2023, at Crestview Christian Church. Since Bobby aka “Farmer Bob” loved to wear blue jean overall bibs, please feel free to wear bibs to the Memorial services.
Bobby was born on February 14, 1947, in Springfield, Vermont. He grew up and attended school in the Boston area. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 23 and held multiple Military Occupational Specialties (MOS), most memorably as a combat photographer and most recently serving overseas in hospital administration. While he was in the military, in 1973, Bobby met his future wife, Evelyn, on a tour at Punchbowl National Cemetery, in Oahu, Hawai’i. They married about a year later in August of 1974. He served in the U.S. Army for 20+ years and retired as a Staff Sergeant (SSG) in 1990. Over the years that followed, he worked as a school bus driver, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), in information technology, as a small business owner, a tow truck driver, and finally as an office manager. His hobbies included aerial drone photography, teaching about gardening, teaching about worm composting, Ham radio, and website building and hosting. He was involved in volunteering for Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful (KCCB) by teaching about vermicomposting, volunteering for the K5CRA Amateur Radio Club - Cove Repeater Association and helping out at church as an Elder and cooking for the monthly Men’s Breakfast. Bobby was a family man, a father figure to his many “adopted” children and valued his entire family over all else.
He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law Alvin and Althea Horn and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Horn.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 48 years, Evelyn Hill; his stepmother, Mary Lou Hill, his brother-in-law, Stephen Horn, his brother-in-law Wayne Horn and his wife, Linda, his sister, Marilyn Whynot and her husband, Jim, and his brother, Stephen Hill; children, Stephen White, Joseph Hill and his wife, Julia, Jason Hill and his wife, Dawn, Kristina Hoover and her husband, Mike, and KariLyn Tardie and her husband, Jake; and grandchildren, Caleb, Josh, Axton, Gabriel, Colton, Emily, Marissa, Logan, Christian, John Jr., Levi, Wyatt, and McKenna. Bobby was so very proud of each and every one of his children and grandchildren. He absolutely beamed with pride when he would talk about each of them.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bobby’s name to a local (state or county) veteran’s services organization.
