Russell Stanley Dibble, at the age of 70, left this earthly world on Sunday evening, November 23, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Services will be held on Sunday, November 30, at 2:00 pm at Community Church in Lampasas, with a celebration of his life to be held after the graveside at the new pavilion at Campbell Park. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.
Russell was born to Franklin Pierce Dibble and Helen Ida Butler in Albuquerque, NM, on December 9, 1954. He attended school at Mesa High in Albuquerque and was raised with his 5 brothers in Corrales, NM.
He was known for his unmatched talent in anything carpentry and construction. He started out in carpentry as a young teenager, working to help support his mother and brothers, building Morgan buildings for a company in Albuquerque. He eventually brought all his brothers into the trade and taught them all the skills to take them forward in life. He was always the caretaker of the family and determined to make sure his brothers were self sufficient.
After meeting his wife, Lisa Canales, in Albuquerque on a jobsite, they were married 6 years later on July 31, 1993, in Lampasas, TX. They traveled around the country on several construction jobs until settling in Lampasas, where they together started Canales-Dibble Contractors, Inc. in 1995. For 30 years, they have worked hand in hand with the City of Lampasas, the Lampasas and Lometa school districts, and with other local contractors pouring concrete slabs for so many of the new construction builds in and around Lampasas. They were a heavy presence in the concrete production on Ft Hood for many, many years. CDC, Inc. poured over 200 slabs, meeting the production schedule of 2 slabs per day, in the new housing additions on Hood back in the early 2000s. These schedules were only being met due to the sheer determination and dedication shown by Russ each and every day. He worked hard and set a solid example for all his employees. He never expected an employee to do anything that he wouldn't do himself, but he did expect that employee to give 110% on everything he did.
Russ is preceded in death by his parents and his son Zachary (Zac) Dibble in 2013.
He is survived by his wife of Lampasas; sons, Jake Dibble of Lampasas and Darren Dibble (Robin) of Temple; his brothers, Jeff Dibble of Anchorage, AK, Phillip (Patty) Dibble of Los Lunas, NM, Tony Dibble (Cindy Gonzales) of Corrales, NM, Marty (Christi) Dibble of Florence, TX, Andrea Gossett (Steve) of Corrales, NM, Scott Caldwell of Rio Rancho, NM; his step-dad, Tom Caldwell of Rio Rancho, NM, 5 grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he cherished as his own.
Memorial Contributions may be made to: Zac Dibble Memorial Scholarship, c/o First Texas Bank, Attn: Annie Trotter, P.O. Box 671, Lampasas, TX 76550.
